Worried Your Dam Won't Hold? Build It Once.

Some blokes dig a hole, walk off, and leave your land scarred and the dam leaking by winter. We build with the fall of your land so it holds for good.

What We Do

We don't just move dirt. We shape land that holds for generations.

A dam is not a hole. It is a piece of your land you will look at every morning for thirty years. We read the ground before a single bucket moves, we find the natural fall, and we key the clay core in properly so the water has nowhere to escape. When the machines leave, the land is clean, the batters are shaped, and the water sits there like it belongs.

Your land deserves a dam that holds forever.

There is a quiet kind of relief in a dam that just works. No cracking through summer, no empty basin staring back at you after the rain. We use the right materials for your soil instead of fighting it, and we compact every layer so it lasts. You water the stock, you fill the tanks, you stop thinking about it. That is the whole point.

Earthworks that turn a paddock into a place.

The best work is the work you never notice. A driveway that drains, a pad that sits dead level, contours that carry water where it should go. In a year the grass has grown back over the batters and it looks like nature formed it. Nobody can tell we were ever there. That is how you know it was done right.

How We Work

We work with your land, not against it.

Careless operators cut against the contours, skip the clay core, and blame the weather when it leaks. We read the fall first and build with what the land gives us.

STEP 01

Read The Land First

We walk your place, check the soil, and find the natural fall before we plan a thing. The land tells us where the dam wants to sit. We listen.

STEP 02

Build It Right Once

Proper clay core, keyed in and compacted layer by layer. The right materials for your soil, not the cheapest fill. Done once, done for good.

STEP 03

Looks Like It Always Belonged

Batters shaped, land left clean, grass grows back over it. In a year it looks like nature formed the dam and it was always meant to be there.

Common Questions

The Questions Every Owner Asks Before They Trust Someone With Their Land

How do I know the dam won't leak?

Most leaks come from a bloke skipping the clay core to save time. We test your soil first, key the core in properly, and compact every layer. If your ground needs it, we bring the right clay in. That is the whole difference between a dam and a puddle.

The cheap quote was thousands less. Why?

Because the cheap quote leaves out the parts you cannot see. No proper core, no compaction, minimal shaping. It blows out or it leaks and then it costs you twice. We quote the job done right the first time so you never dig it up again.

Will you wreck the rest of my land getting in there?

No. We plan our access with the natural fall, work tidy, and shape the batters before we leave. When we drive out, the site is clean and ready to grass over. Your land looks better than when we arrived, not scarred.

What areas do you cover?

We work right across the Upper and Lower Hunter Valley and surrounding areas, based around Lochinvar and roughly a hundred kilometres out. If you are not sure whether you are in range, just ask and Luke will let you know straight.

About Us

Hey, I'm Luke from Hunter Dirt Works.

I run Hunter Dirt Works across the Upper and Lower Hunter Valley. I got into this because I was sick of seeing good landholders paid off with leaking dams and scarred paddocks by blokes who dug a hole and disappeared. That is not how I work.

Every job I take, I read the land first, use the right materials for your soil, and build it so it holds. I am on site, not sending someone else. When I finish, the water sits there and stays there.

Your property is something you have worked and saved for. Treat it that way and the job takes care of itself. Give me a call and I will come have a proper look.
